Best Leadership Development Program

The Extraordinary Matrix Leadership Program (EMLP), developed in collaboration with BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and Zenger Folkman, won a Bronze award for Best Leadership Development Program. This 16-month advanced curriculum is designed for high-potential informal leaders within the Information Systems (I/S) Division, focusing on leadership skills vital for navigating a matrix-structured organization. Through a combination of workshops, multi-rater feedback assessments, and a business simulation, the program equips participants with the tools needed to enhance their leadership effectiveness, strategic thinking, and influence within the organization. EMLP has significantly contributed to developing strong informal leaders and has shown measurable success in retention and leadership progression.

Desired Outcomes

As a result of the Extraordinary Matrix Leadership Program (EMLP) program, participants develop and improve skills to:

  • Lead and manage the work of a team in a matrix organization to deliver results.
  • Develop the motivation and performance of a team through situational analysis and effective conversations.
  • Communicate effectively (up, down, and across) in an organization.
  • Think strategically to prioritize actions and set a clear direction.

  • Individual contributors. 

Logistics

  • Two-day (in-person) or four-day (virtual) program.
  • Delivered to cohorts of 20 participants. 
  • Delivered in both virtual and in-person formats.
